i remember the "boy's club" mentality from many of the bethelites in the 70's and 80's.
it seemed there were a number of males who were "effeminate" back in the day.. i knew of one guy that was told by the bethel brass that he would "go places" at headquarters if he could learn to deepen his voice and tone down his gestures a bit (and he was told it wouldn't hurt if he ever married a fellow bethelite sister).
this man was extensively used at conventions, became less "gay looking" and got married.. so my question is, did you see effeminate men in bethel?
About 15 years ago, when you would ring the French bethel at Louviers, the guy in charge of the switchboard would welcome you with "Les Témoins de Jehovah, bonjour" in such a way that you couldn't help but have this feeling that he was not quite straight.
i did not know last night was the memorial until about 6:00 pm, when someone on my facebook page mentioned something about it.. .
it felt good to be that detached.. .
purps.
We were driving on our way back home from holiday, so my wife phoned Son, who had staid at home, and asked him to represent the family, which he did dutifully. First memorial by proxy for my wife.

Snowbird, Leaving, would you say that seasonal weather accidents in central and southern US are getting worse every year, sort of related to global warming ?

Snowbird, Leaving, the news about those nasty hail storms and tornados in Alabama, together with that Arkansas town being badly struck, came up to the french TV. I can do little but please be assured of my deepest sympathy and my thought are with you and the families who lost dear ones. Let's hope these recurring storms will end soon.
they say the average person will own about 25 cars in their life time.. from 1982 to 1988 i owned a 1971 dodge challenger convertible.
it had a 340 with a 4 speed stick.
i loved that car.. i didnt cry when my wife left me....i did cry when that car drove out of my life!.
i want to curse, but i'm not a cursing woman.. my stomach problems are getting worse.. i need a hug.. truly.. syl.
I read somewhere that Clark Gabble ad Vivien Leigh would detest each other so much (or one of them did, at least) that they would eat garlic before kiss scenes.

I just pop in and read about that stomach trouble of yours, Snowbird, my best wishes go to you. Maybe avoid citrus ?
if you enjoy a glass of vino now and then, tell us what you like and how your tastes got to where they are now.
wine snobs & non-snobs alike welcome!.
my intro to the world of wine was my jw parents buying a huge screw-top bottle of paul masson or gallo red or white, having half a glass, and sticking it out on the back porch thinking that wine stayed good like that.
Côtes du Rhône,
and Bordeaux (good for arteries).
For both, 2009 was a good vintage, also 2005 and 2003. The problem is that 2003 is now getting a bit too old for Cotes du Rhône, so I have to drink my reserve off.
